Sunday Reset with Rob… It’s Cool to be Alone, In fact its Needed
I didn’t know what to write for you this week, in fact, I didn’t really start thinking about it until about 9:10 AM today (1/27/19) as I have had a super busy week- although completely gratifying.
I have been putting together a project I am super excited about- based on lifestyle/functional medicine, and one of the key factors to one’s health and well-being is community, being social.
Although…for many, this could be a double-edged sword, because as detrimental a life of no connection can be, individual alone time is greatly needed for ones health, wellness, and outright creativity.
This quote came across my desk…
“I secretly enjoy being alone - hiking alone, skiing alone, walking along the beach alone, going to movies alone. Do not get me wrong, I like sharing my life with other people, but sometimes I really enjoy being as alone as possible.”
- Josh Zuckerman
Is this true for you?
I am learning this is something we should be able to loudly and outwardly embrace- it doesn’t need to be a secret.
I have made and done some of my best work alone, most creative idea’s, and solid choices made. I mean, who doesn’t get the most inspiring ideas in random places, guard is down, often alone…like the shower.
It’s also much about who and what you are letting in- i.e- checking that email, social media, phone calls- at times we are way too accessible and these incessant habits stand in our way of us.
For me, it’s a constant lesson in life- and it’s Healthy and Needed.
You find your center and that’s where you meet yourself.
Give it a shot if this is foreign to you…take some time for yourself, go for a walk in the woods, go on a walk about, maybe simply go to a café by yourself, no goals to do, grab a cup and just be, see what comes up…peace, relaxation, irritability, need to be doing something? Whatever…its an interesting lesson in self.
Have an awesome Sunday!
