Orientation-Based Medicine Certification
A New Clinical Framework for Functional Medicine Practitioners
Â
Functional medicine tells you what to do.
OBM tells you when, why, and how much.
Â
If you’ve ever felt like:
- the labs look right, but the patient doesn’t respond
- the protocol makes sense, but something is off
- you’re doing more… but getting inconsistent results
You’re not missing information.
You’re missing orientation.
Improve patient compliance, increase successful outcomes, and guide patients from initial care into long-term maintenance.
👉 Next Cohort begins September 2 (limited to 30 practitioners)
Â
Enroll Now with Founders Pricing SpecialTwo patients can have identical labs…
and need completely different approaches.
Why?
Because functional medicine often focuses on:
- what to give
- what to fix
- what’s “optimal”
- what do the labs and the symptoms say
But it doesn’t always tell you:
- Is this patient ready for that intervention?
- Are we pushing too early… or not enough?
- Is this a capacity issue, not a deficiency?
This is where most protocols fail your patients.
Orientation-Based Medicine changes how you think.
Instead of asking:
👉 “What does this patient need?”
You start asking:
👉 “What is this patient ready for?”
The OBM Framework:
This is Not Another Testing = Protocol Only- Based Course.
This is:
👉 A clinical decision-making framework on a backbone of case studies- not just didactics and theory
👉 A way to stage and sequence care
👉 A system you’ll use on every patient
...That integrates the clinical acumen of symptomatology and lab testing to create a simple and easy path for your clients to travel and attain their goals
What This Changes in Your Practice
This isn’t just about learning a new framework.
It changes how you:
- think
- assess
and deliver care
More Precise Clinical Decisions
Understand when to intervene, when to wait, and how to sequence care based on patient readiness, not just lab values.
Improved Patient Outcomes
Reduce overwhelm, improve adherence, and create results that actually stick beyond short-term protocols.
Stronger Patient Retention
When care is timed correctly, patients feel it — and they stay.
A More Structured Clinical Process
Move from scattered decision-making to a clear, repeatable system you can use with every patient.

The OBM Practice Ecosystem
What began as the OBM Clinical & Coaching Assistant has evolved into a complete practice-building ecosystem — an integrated operating system for Orientation-Based Medicine.
The Clinical & Coaching Assistant is your real-time thinking partner. It helps you:
- Assess a patient's environment, orientation, and adaptive capacity
- Organize complex cases and spot patterns lab data alone won't show
- Determine clinical priorities, sequencing, and timing
- Generate Orientation-Based treatment strategies
- Translate physiology into conversations patients actually understand
- Coach behavior change through the lens of capacity — not compliance
Two patients can have nearly identical labs and completely different outcomes. Physiology is only part of the story — the Assistant helps you see the rest: how a patient adapts to stress, where their capacity is expanding or contracting, and when an intervention should be advanced or delayed. It doesn't replace clinical judgment. It sharpens it.
And the same framework applies to you first: understanding your own orientation — where you're operating beyond capacity, where friction is limiting your growth — is what sharpens how precisely you'll see it in your patients.
Beyond the clinical tools, membership gives you a practice built around it:
- The Practice Growth Engine — pricing, offers, memberships, marketing, and using AI to reclaim your time
- Direct access to Rob, monthly Clinical Rounds, and live implementation coaching
- A community of practitioners applying OBM alongside you
- Continuous platform growth — new tools, trainings, and capabilities as the ecosystem evolves
60-Day Free Trial. After that, full membership is $99/month — the Clinical & Coaching Assistant, the Practice Growth Engine, monthly trainings, and every future update, so you don't just learn OBM, you build it into how you practice.Â

About Rob Kress
Meet Your Guide: Rob Kress, RPh
Functional Pharmacist, Founder, Educator, Coach, and Creator of Orientation-Based Medicine
Rob Kress is a licensed pharmacist, functional medicine practitioner, and executive coach with more than 20 years working at the intersection of pharmacy, functional medicine, neuroscience, and behavior change — the creator of Orientation-Based Medicine.
Throughout his career, Rob kept seeing the same problem: practitioners had excellent diagnostics and sophisticated protocols, yet patients responded very differently to the same treatment plan. The missing question wasn't "what does this patient need?" It was "what is this patient currently oriented and capable of receiving?" That insight became the foundation of OBM.
As founder of Functional Pharmacy, Beyond the Labs University, and the Beyond the Labs Method, Rob has worked directly with patients throughout his career and has personally trained more than 100 practitioners through Beyond the Labs and Orientation-Based Medicine — helping them move beyond protocol-driven care into stronger clinical reasoning and genuinely personalized treatment.
He doesn't teach from theory. He teaches from the trenches — years of patient care, practitioner mentorship, and building the tools that make this framework usable in a real practice, not just understandable on paper.
You deserve answers.
