I get it because I've lived it.
As a pharmacist and functional medicine expert, aka, The Godfather of Functional Pharmacy, I've spent years helping men break free from the cycle of numbing their way through life. But my passion for this work? That comes from my own story.
I was that guy. The one who'd come home from a stressful day and reach for a drink or two to "take the edge off." I wore my insomnia like a badge of honor – because isn't that what successful men do? Push through, grind harder, sleep when you're dead?
Let's be real: I was dying a slow death, and I was the one steering that ship.
Thoreau talked about men living "lives of quiet desperation." But here's the truth: Men aren't just living quiet lives of desperation anymore. We're living lives of chemical-induced numbness, calling it "taking the edge off" while our real potential drowns in a sea of 'good enough'. On paper, everything looked fine. But inside? I was disconnected, overwhelmed, and watching those "few extra pounds" multiply year after year. I was existing, not living.
Then came my wake-up call.
It's like it all came crashing down at once. There were moments I truly wondered if that old saying about God never giving you more than you can handle was really true, because I was at my breaking point.
My entire world turned upside down. I lost my pharmacy job when I chose not to become a vaccinating pharmacist. Then COVID hit. A teaching position disappeared. Another pharmacy position ended over the COVID situation. In the midst of this professional chaos, my marriage was ending, and I found myself completely uprooted to another state.
This was my dark night of the soul.
But here's the thing about hitting bottom – sometimes it's exactly where you need to land to rebuild something better. What felt like my lowest point turned out to be the greatest gift. I met my soulmate, who became both my personal and professional partner. I finally found true purpose in my profession – no more standing with one foot in and one foot out, no more compromising my beliefs, no more shilling for big pharma.
I began teaching other practitioners at a higher level, showing them how to truly transform lives. And from this journey of rediscovery and purpose, I created Man Unmedicated.
